The Artist Guides was established in response to the overwhelming number of artists asking us for help and advice with their development, self-management and release campaigns. The rise in number of independent artists operating in the music industry is nothing short of a revolution. The modern music industry requires a fresh approach to artist development and education.
The Artists Guides’ founders, James Brister and Sean McDermott have over 30 years of joint experience in the music industry. They specialise in artist management, performance, musicianship, music business, artist development, and career coaching. Previous and current music industry roles include Directorships, Head of Marketing, Industry Liaison Manager, Head of Sales, and Consultancy. Notably, both founders worked together for many years on the management team at the UK's leading music performance college (the ICMP) in London, building an industry network, creating a music careers service, coaching artists, and managing auditions and admissions.
They established the artist management company Amour Music in 2012 and manage a varied roster of artists, songwriters and producers. Their artists have achieved millions of plays on streaming services, performed live in theatres and arenas around the world, released numerous Singles, EPs and Albums and written and produced tracks for an array of acts.
James and Sean have worked with thousands of music professionals and a variety of artists including APRE, Matt Maltese, Bear’s Den, Charlotte Clark, Josh Vine, Laura Welsh, Elena Tonra, Remi Aguilella and Igor Haefeli (Daughter & Ex:Re), Richard Fairlie, scott is okay, ARK, Jones, Iyamah, Louisa Allen (Foxes), Arni Arnason (The Vaccines), Stealth, Joel McBride (Tom O’Dell), Mike Dignam, Ted Dwayne (Mumford & Sons), David Klinke (George Ezra) and many more.
